Nine new names in Hall of Fame

Nine names have been added to the ITS Hall of Fame at this year’s Detroit World Congress with the Lifetime Achievement, Local Government and Industry sectors each gaining three new members.

Nine names have been added to the ITS Hall of Fame at this year’s Detroit World Congress with the Lifetime Achievement, Local Government and Industry sectors each gaining three new members.

Those honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Opening Ceremony were:

  • Mr. Lyle Saxton, director of the FHWA Office of Safety and Traffic Operations R&D (Retired)
  • Mr. Heinz Sodeikat, principal, AHS Management Consulting
  • Mr. Taro Ishi, councillor and senior visiting researcher at Waseda University Following today’s first Plenary Session, Local Government Awards will be given out to:
  • Mississippi Department of Transportation
  • Transport for London
    - TfL, United Kingdom
  • Ministry of Transport, New Zealand


After the second Plenary Session on Tuesday the Industry Award will be given to:

  • Streetline
  • Swarco
  • Korea Expressway.

    David St Amant and Robert E Skinner have been named as the ITS America Hall of Fame Award winners for 2016. Established to recognise members whose contributions to the profession and service to ITS America has been significant, substantial and long-standing, inductees are selected annually based on their position as a thought leader in the ITS field and a champion of the ITS vision. St Amant and Skinner will be inducted during the ITS America 2016 San José Board of Directors meeting on Sunday June 12.

    Bordeaux has added Industry and Local Government names to the ITS Hall of Fame. For Europe the respective nominees are Here and AustriaTech. Location cloud company Here has been recognised for its collaboration with the ITS sector to deliver more efficient, environmentally sound and safer transportation.
  • ITS America declare Detroit as success

    ITS America, organisers of the 2014 ITS World Congress in Detroit, has declared the event a great success with more than 9,100 participants, 700 papers and 300 exhibiters plus the most extensive set of demonstrations ever staged. The introduction of Chief Technology Officer sessions was considered a big success attracting almost 800 attendees.
