Modularity offers adaptability and upgradability, says Melissa Prosen
Speed, modularity and quality are the focuses on the Datacard Group stand at this year’s show. The company is launching a series of products which will offer users greater throughput and guaranteed quality, says Melissa Prosen, Director, Brand and Communications.

The new MX8100, the latest and f-astest in the MX series of systems, is targeted at high-volume applications and can issue cards at up to 3,000/hour. Like other recent Datacard products, it incorporates a Quality Assurance module which enables automated, inline checking.

“Our modular design offers users a multi-layered approach to the addition of security features which can be varied according to need. The Quality Assurance module automates a task which was once very manually intensive, and at the end of the system the MXD card delivery system enables fast, accurate matching of cards to the correct delivery forms,” she adds.

Modularity also features in two new desktop card printers, the CD800 card printer with laminator and SD460 card printer. Like the MX8100, these offer a multi-layered approach to the addition of card security features but at a very competitive price. Both the CD800 and SD460 feature direct-to-card printing and Datacard is claiming to be first to market with an embossing capability which incorporates an additional, tactile security feature into cards. With the CD800, true edge-to-edge lamination with clear or holographic overlays is possible which further increases resistance to tampering. Datacard also states that durability is four times greater than with basic topcoats.
