In this system, the battery packs are much smaller in size compared to cluster battery pack design that exists today. The unique features of this invention are use of rechargeable multiple small size modular battery packs which are exchangeable manually or by an automated battery swap station. Another important feature is that a defective battery module can be removed and replace with a good one, and the company says the quick exchange battery packs system provides an extra option for electric vehicle owners.

Currently EV Xchange Technologies is considering licensing the patent rights to this invention.

The launch of autonomous vehicles and a host of electronic components render the current 12-volts (v) battery nearly unusable, says a new report by Frost & Sullivan, Strategic Analysis of the Global 48v Power-net Market. To meet stringent global emissions regulations and offer a basic semi-autonomous system, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must electrify components while offering a bigger source of power. Therefore, OEMs plan to migrate to a 48v power-net and use two voltages. Heavy-duty, power-h
