Intelligent Transport Systems New Zealand (ITSNZ) has appointed Armin Guttke to the role of chairman and president.

He succeeds Mike Rudge who left ITSNZ in November to join the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. For six years Rudge was a director of ITSNZ, including four as chairman.

Guttke: working towards a "more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and safer transport system for New Zealand"

Guttke brings over 20 years of leadership to the role. He has a well-developed appreciation of technology, business and the political challenges facing new Zealand’s transport sector, said ITSNZ. He has been a board director for more than four years, with key responsibilities for member engagement, promotion and advocacy.

ITSNZ said that his experience in stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, policy and advocacy will provide important governance and stewardship capability during a critical time of growth and change within the broader sector.

Guttke said he will continue working with the board and members "to ensure we deliver on strategic and policy actions that achieve our long-term objectives in supporting a more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and safer transport system for New Zealand".
