Move New York launches public participation website

The Move NY team, which came up with a plan to improve New York’s transportation system by making the City’s tolling system fairer, has launched SmartParticipation (link http://nyc.smartparticipation.com/), a website dedicated to gathering public comments on congestion in New York City.

The Move NY team, which came up with a plan to improve New York’s transportation system by making the City’s tolling system fairer, has launched SmartParticipation (%$Linker: 2 External <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 0 0 0 oLinkExternal http://nyc.smartparticipation.com/ Visit NYC Smart Partipation Website false http://nyc.smartparticipation.com/ false false%>), a website dedicated to gathering public comments on congestion in New York City.

Hosted by CeRI and created by Cornell researchers, comments made on the website will be delivered to public officials in the New Year, when the New York State Legislature will return to Albany to tackle the issue of just where they will find US$8.3 billion to fill the State's commitment to funding the MTA funding gap.

New York City was ranked the fifth worst congested city in the country last year; congestion affects residents in innumerable ways: decreased movement of delivery and service vehicles, reduced emergency response times, increased pollution and pedestrian/cyclist crashes, economic loss from increased commuting times  and heavy wear and tear on roads and bridges.
