The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.

The 1688 Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has recreated its Southeast Michigan Traffic Management Center (Booth: 2027) at 2014 6456 ITS World Congress. The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.
Traffic management administrators will monitor traffic in real time and field real calls on the showroom floor as part of their daily operations in Detroit. Attendees will be able to interact with monitors set up in the temporary center, seeing how MDOT responds to congestion and incidents on the city’s streets.
Local, county, state and federal officials will also showcase how they coordinate with partners such as Amtrak and the 4273 Ministry of Transportation Ontario.

Australian firm Saferoads is offering an improved roadside protection product in the shape of its new Omni Stop Bollard. The product is suited to installations such as around construction workzones or pedestrian and commercial areas, where there may be site personnel or people congregating alongside a busy roadway. The Omni Stop Bollards can be spaced so as to allow free access for pedestrians or cyclists, while providing protection from errant vehicles.
Iteris will use its presence at the 23rd ITS America Annual Meeting to highlight how the company is doing its part to mitigate congestion through planning, engineering, and implementing technology based solutions. The company says its focus is to measure (collect travel behaviour and pattern data); manage (analyse and monitor travel conditions); inform (provide real-time information to traffic managers and motorists); and guide (deliver actionable and predictive information).
The Aimsun Online real-time decision support system for traffic management will take centre stage at the TSS-Transport Simulation Systems stand. Its dynamic, high-speed simulation of large areas allows traffic operators to accurately forecast the future network flow patterns that will result from a particular traffic management or information provision strategy.
Citilog is introducing a North American-compliant version of its XCam-p video detection sensor.
The new version of XCam-p – the ‘p’ stands for presence detection – follows an agreement with Signal Group, the parent company of Peek Traffic. Peek manufactures the cabinet interface unit for the system. Citilog’s previous version of XCam-p is used internationally but does not conform to US standards.
