MDOT recreates its traffic management center at 2014 ITS World Congress
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has recreated its Southeast Michigan Traffic Management Center (Booth: 2027) at 2014 ITS World Congress. The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.

The 1688 Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has recreated its Southeast Michigan Traffic Management Center (Booth: 2027) at 2014 6456 ITS World Congress. The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.
Traffic management administrators will monitor traffic in real time and field real calls on the showroom floor as part of their daily operations in Detroit. Attendees will be able to interact with monitors set up in the temporary center, seeing how MDOT responds to congestion and incidents on the city’s streets.
Local, county, state and federal officials will also showcase how they coordinate with partners such as Amtrak and the 4273 Ministry of Transportation Ontario.

During this year’s ITS World Congress, Kapsch TrafficCom - as the event’s main sponsor - will have a multi-faceted presence: Georg Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch TrafficCom and the Kapsch Group will speak during the Opening Ceremony and host the Welcome Reception. Kapsch TrafficCom will participate in about 20 congress sessions as speakers, moderators or panel members.
Austria-headquartered Swarco will have a very high visibility at the ITS World Congress in Vienna. The company’s exhibition stand will focus on its integrated solutions capabilities in urban and interurban traffic management, parking and e-mobility and public transport. Swarco’s Omnia all-in-one solution for intelligent traffic management will be on display as will be the company’s solution for energy-efficient intelligent street lighting.
ETSI, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, is exhibiting at the ITS World Congress to explain the work of its technical committee for ITS in developing standards for all aspects of ITS communication systems. Visitors to Stand P32 will be able to find out more about ETSI’s ITS Conformance Validation Framework, and meet its testing and ITS experts to discover the latest developments in ETSI ITS standardisation.
TRL and TomTom have announced here at the ITS World Congress that they have launched a new partnership to offer more detailed analyses of the results published in TomTom’s quarterly Congestion Index which covers major metropolitan areas in Europe and North America. The partners say the collaboration will see the Congestion Index being put to practical use in solving local congestion issues.
