MDOT recreates its traffic management center at 2014 ITS World Congress
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has recreated its Southeast Michigan Traffic Management Center (Booth: 2027) at 2014 ITS World Congress. The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.

The 1688 Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has recreated its Southeast Michigan Traffic Management Center (Booth: 2027) at 2014 6456 ITS World Congress. The center is recognised as one of the most innovative TMCs in the U.S., having to deal with a complex multi-modal transportation network on the border of Canada.
Traffic management administrators will monitor traffic in real time and field real calls on the showroom floor as part of their daily operations in Detroit. Attendees will be able to interact with monitors set up in the temporary center, seeing how MDOT responds to congestion and incidents on the city’s streets.
Local, county, state and federal officials will also showcase how they coordinate with partners such as Amtrak and the 4273 Ministry of Transportation Ontario.

ITS America welcomes the 2014 ITS World Congress to a busy schedule of special events this week. Tuesday has been declared Emergency Responder Day in an effort to put a spotlight on what first responders do on the scene of an accident and how ITS developments can help their life-saving efforts run smoother, faster and safer. Anyone in uniform will be granted entry to the World Congress for free throughout the day and can attend two special sessions focused on emergency response.
Organizing committees are gearing up for the next two ITS World Congress and Exhibitions, using ITS America 2013 to ensure continuity between the shows, cultivate interest and build momentum.
Austria is hosting the ITS World Congress, so you might expect something special on the ITS Austria stand. Well you are not going to be disappointed! About 40 Austrian companies will be represented on Stand E10 to show their products and services. For example, together with the Vienna Transport Authority, Telereal will show its ‘multi-sensual’ sign system, a new type of info point for people with hearing, visual or physical impairments.
Co-ordinated adaptive traffic light control is a getting a lot of attention on the World Congress exhibition floor, according to TransCore which is displaying the SCATS system.
