MaaS Market London conference looks at first/last mile

Next month’s MaaS Market conference in London will host a session dedicated to first/last mile travel within multimodal trips delivered through Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platforms. Next month’s 8545 MaaS Market conference in London will host a session dedicated to first/last mile travel within multimodal trips delivered through Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platforms. The provision of first/last mile connections is crucial if MaaS is to provide travellers with a convenient alternative to using private cars for every journey.

In the session, Richard Corbett from micro scooter provider Bird, and Katy Medlock of peer-to-peer car share company Drivy, will be joined by Amsterdam-based researcher Berry den Brinker - an expert on safer cycling, encouraging walking and mobility for those with impaired vision. They will examine the role of these new mobility options within MaaS-style services and how to ensure digitised transport providers consider, and cater for, the needs of those with disabilities.

Other sessions will address the technical requirements for participating in MaaS and methods of paying vertical transport providers for their part in multimodal trips made by individual travellers.

MaaS Market 2019 will take place at the Inmarsat Conference Centre in London on 20-21 March.     A self-driving bus trial in the Austrian capital Vienna has been halted after a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian, says Bloomberg.
