Visitors to Intertraffic will be the first to see the new Marwis mobile contactless weather information sensor from German company 6478 Lufft.

Marwis can be mounted on any vehicle and provides mobile collection of road weather information including surface temperature, dew point and water film height as well as road conditions (humidity, snow, ice and frost), grip (friction) and other environmental data.

The system measures meteorological data and road condition information 100 times per second at a driving speed of 80km/h, meaning the sensor records the data every 20cm.

Data from the sensors can be sent via 1835 Bluetooth for real time evaluation on a mobile device or tablet and delivered via the cloud to SmartView, Lufft’s visualisation software. According to the company, Marwis can distinguish the desired data regardless of the road surface condition - freezing ice, snow or rain.

Lufft is also exhibiting an updated in-road sensor, the IRS31Pro-UMB, which can now calculate friction and ice percentage as well as measuring temperature and road surface condition (damp, wet, icy or snow/salt).

Vaisala says the change will allow it to increase its already industry-leading innovations, such as the non-intrusive road weather sensors, and the Conditio

Portuguese company Sernis will use Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 to present B-Rail, a new concept of road safety barriers designed for any type of vehicle and developed to be ultra-resistant and withstand vehicular impacts. Sernis claims that B-Rail has an absorption power and damping shock greater than conventional guard rail solutions, due to its raw material and internal structure. In addition, the barrier has a high absorption/dissipation capacity of impact energy at higher speed than conventional gua
