Thompson: founding member of IBTTA's Women in Tolling Council

Transport industry veteran Lisa Thompson has joined WSP in the US as senior vice president, advisory and planning business development director.

Previously vice president and national practice consultant for infrastructure group HNTB, she has also held several state-level government positions, including four years with the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority as its director of communications and legislative affairs.

In her new job, Thompson will develop and maintain key client relationships, identify new business opportunities and collaborate with technical teams. She will also provide guidance for operational strategies and solutions throughout a project’s life cycle.

“Lisa joins us at a critical and exciting time, as infrastructure leaders explore all avenues and technological innovations to meet their goals, exceed community expectations and steward scarce capital resources wisely,” said Jannet Walker-Ford, advisory and planning business line executive at WSP in the US.

Thompson is a founding board member of the IBTTA's Women in Tolling Council; chair of the American Public Transportation Association’s Fundraising Committee; and a member of WTS International and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials.

She was also a recipient of Dress for Success Atlanta’s Empowering Women Award in 2023 and in 2022 earned WTS Atlanta’s Living the Legacy Award.

Thompson graduated from the University of Georgia and has a master’s degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
