147 Vitronic will use the ITS World Congress Detroit 2014 to showcase the next- generation of the company’s LIDAR-based traffic enforcement. The company says the new system builds on the best-in-class measurement technology of the revolutionary PoliScan product line and can be applied to a variety of enforcement scenarios, such as speed enforcement, red light enforcement, and tailgating. According to Vitronic, the new system has already proven its capabilities by outperforming competition in a recent tender in Abu Dhabi, which included a roadside test comprised of over 20 enforcement and violation scenarios across up to six lanes simultaneously.
Also on display will be the latest generation of the TollChecker flexible free-flow tolling platform. The technology can be applied on highways as well as rural roads or for road user charging in urban environments. It is also used for auditing existing or projected tolling systems.
Delegates to the ITS World Congress are also invited to a presentation by Vitronic on flexible tolling technology within the Road User Charging Session 4 on Wednesday morning, September 10th. The presentation (Session #13402) is titled“The ‘F’ Factor - Not Only Smart But Flexible Synergies Of Traffic Control And Management Systems.”
Turkey-headquartered KentKart will use the ITS World Congress to show a new generation of onboard public transport tablet. The KentTablet provides contactless fare collection through a capacitive LCD touch screen, vehicle tracking and fleet management, passenger information in vehicle and at the station, employee management, emergency and alarm management, and onboard video surveillance services for public and private transportation companies.
Increased road safety is claimed for a novel system from Ninghai Qinghua Electrical designed to improve the conspicuity of guard rails. This solar powered lighting system can be mounted on top of the barrier and features reliable LED technology, using flashing to ensure drivers can see the barriers clearly from a distance or in poor weather conditions with heavy rain or fog.
Signpost Solutions, a UK-based specialist in passive safety since 1996, will use Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 for the international launch of Optimast, a new range of highly competitive passively safe sign masts. The company says that Optimast plugs a gap in its ability to commercially meet the requirements for certain bending capacities which in the past would have necessitated a largely over-engineered design.

Tuesday has been declared Emergency Responder Day in an effort to put a spotlight on what first responders do on the scene of an accident and how ITS developments can help their life-saving efforts run smoother, faster and safer.
