Land Transport Authority orders 50 hybrid buses, Singapore

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded Volvo Buses an order for 50 hybrid buses as part of its efforts to build an environmentally friendly bus fleet that will be rolled out gradually for service by the second half of 2018.

The 918 Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded 609 Volvo Buses an order for 50 hybrid buses as part of its efforts to build an environmentally friendly bus fleet that will be rolled out gradually for service by the second half of 2018.


According to Volvo, The Volvo 7900 Hybrid buses use 30% less fuel and half the nitrogen oxide and particle emissions.

Representatives from the LTA said: "Not only can commuters expect quieter and smoother rides; bus captains can also enjoy a more comfortable working environment. To prepare our bus workforce for this change, LTA will work with industry partners to help upgrade our bus professionals through the Singapore Bus Academy.”
