ITS World Congress 2025: home runs and deep dives on Tech Tours

There's plenty to see beyond the conference and exhibition at #ITSAtlanta2025

Away from the packed conference schedule and buzzing exhibition hall, ITS World Congress 2025 in Atlanta has plenty to offer.

For any delegate seeking insights into the future of mobility, there is a variety of Tech Tours which aim to give insight into topics including event traffic management, C-V2X deployment, practical use of autonomous vehicles, and more:

 

iATL – Infrastructure-Automotive Technology Laboratory Tech Tour
Sunday 24 August
09:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The tour of the iATL includes the indoor Lab experience and outdoor demonstrations of Day One Safety Applications on the roadways of Alpharetta.
The indoor tour includes live views of select cities’ transportation infrastructure, including active traffic signals, school zone safety beacons, live transit signal priority and emergency vehicle preemption. Follow along with buses as they receive priority on their normal routes, and see live counts of emergency vehicle preemptions and transit priority signal calls. The tour also includes the working lab, where industry experts work with every traffic signal controller in use in North America, multiple detectors including radar, Lidar and cameras with extensive displays of artificial intelligence. Participants in the roadway demonstrations will experience connected vehicle applications, including school zone safety alerts, school bus alerts and warnings, work truck alerts, pedestrian in crosswalk alerts, red light running warnings, and “get ready for green” notifications.
 

Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners Tech Tour
Tuesday 26 August and Wednesday 27 August

Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners is the country’s leading smart city, showcasing a real-world environment where local and international companies, from startups to established corporations, can pilot, develop, and demo their technologies in a real-world environment. During Curiosity Lab’s live demonstrations, you will see interoperability of multiple smart city sensors and devices that are a fully connected and integrated, enabling easy management. Live demos will show devices powered by 5G and include full visibility of smart city management dashboards. You will witness C-V2X interoperability between 5.9Ghz and cellular connected RSUs and OBUs for prioritizing emergency vehicles, VRUs, and more.
 

Cobb County Braves Stadium TMC Tech Tour
Tuesday 26 August

Truist Park is home to the World Champion Atlanta Braves. The 42,000+ seating capacity coupled with the adjacent mixed-use development called Battery Atlanta provides an exciting venue for the live, work, and play concept.  With over 90 events a year that bring 50,000+ people each, a coordinated public-private effort between the Atlanta Braves, Law Enforcement, and Cobb County Department of Transportation helps maintain a safe and efficient game-day fan experience. Join us as we take a deeper dive into how Cobb County manages both vehicular and pedestrian traffic via a sophisticated on-site traffic management command center.  The tour will include a glimpse into how they deconflict pedestrian/vehicle movements, manage traffic through advanced traffic management utilizing a coordinated adaptive traffic system, plan to safely integrate innovative mobility solutions like shared autonomous vehicles into the transportation network to extend connectivity and improve convenience, and how advanced messaging techniques align drivers with their intended destinations.

 

Georgia DoT TMC/Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) Tech Tour
Tuesday 26 August and Wednesday 27 August
09:00 AM - 11:15 AM

For more than 30 years the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Transportation Management Center (TMC), has been ground zero for mobility in the state and the nerve center for our world class ITS. From the Olympics to Super Bowls, top state officials and the news media gather on the Ops Floor to get the latest information on traffic and watch operators dispatch and manage resources. The TMC is the headquarters and information clearinghouse for NaviGAtor – Georgia’s Intelligent Transportation System. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the TMC is committed to enhancing travel safety and transportation efficiency by managing incidents, controlling traffic, and providing accurate information to the traveling public. The tour will be approximately one hour with a transfer time of approximately 20 minutes each way.
