In the meantime, everyone in the host city of Vienna is getting ready to welcome visitors to this, the 19th Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress. Throughout the 5-day event, prominent locations in the ‘best city in the world’ (Mercer Quality of Living Survey in 2009, 2010, and 2011) will hold different elements of the congress, and everything is being hosted by the BMVIT (4792 Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology), and organised by 374 Ertico, an umbrella organisation for ITS in Europe. There will also be support from local organisers 4793 AustriaTech. The congress programme includes an exhibition, technical lectures, and a demonstration area.

The theme of this year’s congress is “smarter on the way,” and the organisers hope to “throw a spotlight on the ways in which user-friendly ITS can benefit both private and commercial customers.” Also, there will be a lot of discussion around “connecting modes of transport to make traffic systems flow more easily.”

The Ertico partnership is hosting a one-day forum in Brussels on 7 November to examine the future development of automated emergency call (eCall) and the evolution of telematics services.
Discussions and debates will take place around a series of topics, including: the status of emergency call once eCall is deployed; challenges to enable further business opportunities; the potential of new technologies and new services within emergency call and beyond eCall.
Denso is to open a facility at Haneda Airport in Tokyo in June 2020 to develop and test automated driving technologies.
The company says the site will feature a building and proving ground for mobility systems research and development.
It will also develop automated driving technology researched at its global R&D facility in Tokyo which opened in April.
This office was developed to promote collaboration with Denso’s development partners which include automakers, universities, research institutes
