With 2,000 participants and 958 delegates from 44 countries, the 11th ITS European Congress has been judged a success by its organisers, 374 ERTICO- ITS Europe in partnership with the European Commission.

According to Didier Gorteman, director of Congresses at ERTICO-ITS Europe, the organisers received a lot of positive feedback from exhibitors, sponsors and visitors and the success of this event is the result of a great cooperation between ERTICO, the European Commission and our fantastic hosts, Glasgow City Council and 505 Transport Scotland.

Hosted by Glasgow City Council, Visit Scotland, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, ITS United Kingdom, Transport Scotland and the Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, the busy week also gathered 90 exhibitors and 500 speakers over the 100-plus sessions.

The three plenary and nine executive sessions focused on high priority topics in Europe; the Congress began with the connected and automated vehicles debate, followed by smart cities and sustainable transport on Tuesday. On Wednesday, top industry and government speakers presented space technologies, maps and ITS for freight and logistics, while Mobility as a Service was debated today in the last plenary session.

Preparation has already begun for the next ITS European Congress, in June 2017, in Strasbourg.
