The purpose of the MOU is to promote collaboration in ITS research, planning, promotion and deployment of technologies, and to improve membership value through research, education and commercial cooperation.

Enhancement of the exchange of information, facilitation of communication between the organisations' members and leaders, and cooperative promotion of each other's principle ITS events are key elements of the agreement.

At the singing of the MOU by ITS Australia President Brian Negus and ITS&S Vice President Roman Srp, the organisations' leaders said that the cooperation between the nations will be highly beneficial and that the agreement will lead to more effective and better organised development and deployment of intelligent transport systems in Australia and the Czech Republic.
