ITS Australia National ITS Awards finalists announced

Announcing the short list of finalists for the enhanced National Intelligent Transport Systems Awards Judging Panel Chair and ITS Australia Director Gino Dompietro said the high quality and record number of entries for the 2014 National ITS Awards reflects the growth and maturity of the Australian ITS industry and presented judges with a challenging task.

Announcing the short list of finalists for the enhanced National Intelligent Transport Systems Awards Judging Panel Chair and 858 ITS Australia Director Gino Dompietro said the high quality and record number of entries for the 2014 National ITS Awards reflects the growth and maturity of the Australian ITS industry and presented judges with a challenging task.

“The industry responded positively to the new entry criteria and to the expanded range of award categories,” said Gino Dompietro. “Australia leads the world in some key ITS sectors and these Awards hosted by ITS Australia will help our industry gain the international recognition it deserves.”

The 2014 National ITS Awards categories and finalists include: NICTA (National ICT Australia), 6030 Intelematics Australia and 2226 Skidata Australasia in the Industry Award category; Queensland Department of Transport and Main Road with Queensland Public Safety Business Agency, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and Queensland Police Service, South Australian Department of Transport, Planning and Infrastructure and Transport for New South Wales in the Government Award category;  in the Research Academic Award category, NICTA (National ICT Australia and Monash University; and in the Young Professional Award for professionals under aged 30, Luke Madigan, Tariq Usuph and Amira Galli.

Dompietro said international recognition for the National ITS Awards is ensured. “The Industry and the Government Award category winners will be nominated by ITS Australia for consideration for the worldwide ITS Achievement Award, to be presented at the 22nd ITS World Congress 2015 in Bordeaux France, before an audience of 10,000 industry professionals,” he said.
