The ITS Asia Pacific (AP) Forum 2020 is accepting entries on the theme of ‘ITS Innovation Creating Liveable Communities’ until 6 September.
The programme committee invites submissions for consideration as either scientific, technical or commercial papers. They are also accepting entries for special interest sessions.
Additionally, AP 2020 has opened the Future Leaders Programme to recent graduates under 30 years old, allowing them to develop skills they need for academic and professional careers.
SES America (SESA) is hosting a webinar on 15 December, dedicated to solar ITS solutions, from 1300-1400 ET, 1000-11000 PT.
The webinar, Powering ITS anywhere, anytime with solar energy solutions, will discuss the seven myths about solar-powered DMS (dynamic message signs) and why the rise of solar power has paved a way for ITS. It will also discuss how to calculate an optimised solar ITS system.
Moxa, the German producer of industrial automation products, will be showing a range of its products, including industrial Ethernet switches and industrial wireless AP devices with resilient self-healing Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain technology and Turbo Roaming, allowing ITS operators access to high performance wired or wireless Ethernet technology with good bandwidth. Other products include what Moxa describes as the world’s first serial device server for connecting legacy devices such as VMS.
ITS America has raised concerns with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) over the potential use of the 5GHz band spectrum by unlicensed national information infrastructure devices. It wants to protect the 5.9GHz band for dedicated short-range communications (DSRC)-based systems. These crucially underpin the development of connected vehicle (CV) technologies which could help slash the US’ annual tally of six million road traffic accidents and over 30,000 deaths.
