    Bird is to roll out an app feature which allows people to report poorly parked or damaged electric scooters to the company.     ITS World Congress hosts European Commission’s 3rd ITS Conference
    On 22 October 2012 the European Commission is organising its 3rd Conference on Intelligent Transport in Europe within the framework of the 19th ITS World Congress at Messe Wien, Room Stolz 1&2 and foyer Stolz. The main objective of the conference is to provide and discuss results of the ITS Action Plan and to present the status of the implementation of the ITS Directive 2010/40/EU. Additionally, the presentations will address legal issues for ITS deployment as well as European multimodal journey planners.

    Ficosa pledges €500m investment in C/AV technology
    Spanish firm Ficosa is to put €500m into R&D over the next four years to provide new technology for connected and autonomous vehicles (C/AVs). The firm believes that revenue from its technology systems will rise from €100 million to €800 million over the next five years. Assisted driving and e-mobility are other areas of interest, and the company has already put its money where its mouth is, showing off a new e-mobility development centre last year. The company had overall revenues of €1.28 billion

    ITS America appoints new technical editor
    ITS America has chosen Dr John Miles as technical editor for a new web-based resource on ITS. With funding from the US Department of Transportation (USDOT), the society plans to publish in mid-2014 in partnership with the World Road Association (PIARC) on the latter’s website.
