The summit is the unique platform for global discussions on strategies for transport in the 21st century. Since 2008, the Annual Summit has developed into the leading global get-together of the key players in transport and transport-related sectors, providing a unique platform for high-level exchange on strategic policy issues.

Transport ministers from all over the globe will gather in Leipzig to discuss the role of transport in a world of growing global trade and rapidly expanding tourism. They will be joined by more than 1,000 participants from around 80 countries.

Discussions will include mitigating transport-related climate change impacts of trade and tourism during the ministerial session of the Leipzig Summit. Ministers will also work on a joint declaration.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be addressing the ministers via a video message to urge them to accelerate efforts to combat climate change.
