IRF Awards 2025 demonstrate 'bold vision' of mobility

Econolite and TRL Software are among the winners of the International Road Federation (IRF) Awards 2025, presented during the international symposium Navigating the Future of Traffic Management in Athens, Greece.

“The IRF Awards were created to spotlight the remarkable achievements that are transforming the future of transport, projects that are technically outstanding and socially impactful," says IRF president Dimitris Mandalozis.

"From road safety and climate resilience to digital innovation and inclusive mobility, the submissions we received this year reflect the bold vision and tireless dedication of our sector.”

Econolite, part of Umovity, won for its Autoscope OptiVu HD video detection solution in the Traffic Management and ITS category, while TRL Software’s iRoads triumphed in the Global Climate Resilience award for its project Transforming Road Management in the Indian southern state of Kerala.

Other winning entries included the Italian city of Bologna's roll-out of 30km/h speed limits, which has led to a fall in fatal collisions (Road Safety); Evon's work on Austrian road operator Asfinag's traffic management system (Traffic Management & ITS); and Huawei Technologies Co and Maxvision Technology Corp's ANPR contract with Royal Oman Police (Road Safety).
