Intelligent transport systems and services showcased in Lyon

The 8th European Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) in Lyon, France, kicked off yesterday under the theme “Intelligent Mobility - ITS for sustainable transport of persons and goods in urban regions.”

The 8th European Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) in Lyon, France, kicked off yesterday under the theme “Intelligent Mobility - ITS for sustainable transport of persons and goods in urban regions.”

During four days, over 1400 delegates will attend this annual meeting point of transport executives from around the globe, held in Europe every year, to share high-tech transport insights.

Speaking at the Congress opening ceremony, Gunter Zimmermeyer (Robert Bosch), chairman of 374 Ertico – ITS Europe said: “ITS is the key to improve sustainable urban mobility. ITS Systems and services have the potential not only to improve the transport systems of our cities, but also to stimulate innovation, and strengthen the competitiveness of European economy and create jobs.”

The Congress is taking place at the Cite Internationale in Lyon. High level French and EU officials will also be speaking at various executive sessions of the Congress.
