“A different kind of demonstration” is on offer at the ITS World Congress Melbourne thanks to 8502 HMI Technologies. Visitors will be able to access the RouteTIP demo, an ITS app specially customised for the Congress, from their smartphones. The app, along with some 40 Bluetooth beacons installed throughout the Convention Centre and across Melbourne, will deliver informative location-specific real-time alerts.

“RouteTIP is one of the official demonstrations at congress,” explains Dean Zabrieszach, HMI Technologies Australia’s CEO. “Conceived as a virtual VMS, RouteTIP is an innovative, cost effective and flexible solution to help agencies communicate location specific information in real time.”

With over a decade of experience in developing high quality integrated and stand-alone VMS and LED solutions HMI Technologies is acutely aware of the various challenges and expenses associated with installing bulky and resource demanding infrastructure in both remote rural environments as well as dense urban areas.

The RouteTIP system overcomes many of these challenges with small units being easy to ship, easy to install or relocate. Being lightweight as well as battery and solar powered (off grid) RouteTIP also offers environmental benefits. HMI Technologies is underway with plans to ensure the system integrates with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.

The RouteTIP beacons and app have been successfully tested in real life over the past two years, with HMI Technologies working with both New Zealand’s NZTA and VicRoads in Melbourne.
