The 553 Gulf Traffic exhibition and conference has signed its first strategic partnership with the Saudi Transport Ministry (TM). Saudi Arabia has recently announced a $453 million infrastructure project to extend 23 roads across the country.

“As we progress with our plan for the private sector to operate much of the kingdom's future transport infrastructure, being part of international platforms, such as Gulf Traffic in Dubai, will give us access to the transport suppliers needed to drive this strategy,” said Turki Al Toaimi, director general for marketing and communications at the TM.

The show, which is held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, hosts over 150 exhibitors and attracts 3,000 international visitors. The new agreement is aimed at increasing collaboration between transport suppliers, as well as giving the TM an international platform to promote its transport projects.

“With such a large amount of infrastructure development happening in the kingdom, this partnership, we believe, will provide some excellent opportunities for the TM, our exhibiting companies and our visiting industry attendees,” said Claudia Konieczna, exhibition director, Gulf Traffic.

TM’s transport strategy includes Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to add five new megacities to the country over the next decade. Transportation investment includes high-speed rail on the west coast and an upgraded central airport in the capital, Riyadh, and the country’s second city, Jeddah.

Gulf Traffic is supported by UAE’s Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Dubai Police.
Exhibitors and sponsors signed up to the 2018 edition include VIA, Miovision, Watopedia, Kapsch, Siemens, Flir, Ennis-Flint, PTV Group, Secure Parking, Zone Parking, Gridsmart, Q-Free, Gersan Elektrik, Technologica and Geveko.

ITS International publisher Route One produces the official show publication for Gulf Traffic. Gulf Parking, launched last year, will run alongside the show.

• Gulf Traffic runs from 4-6 December 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre
