Significant investment over the past year in the Middle East within the traffic management, intelligent transport systems (ITS), road safety, parking, road maintenance and transport infrastructure industries has been reflected in the growth of the exhibition, conferences and awards.

The GCC is set to invest approximately US$121.3 billion to improve its land transportation infrastructure. According to local reports, major projects, including the construction and planning of new roads and bridges, are already underway in a number of the Gulf countries, with developers actively researching, and implementing, smarter parking applications to ensure the ultimate experience is provided for all vehicle users.

With the UAE and Qatar playing host to two major global events during the next decade, the 2020 World Expo and 2022 FIFA World Cup, respectively, there is a serious need to improve the region’s transport infrastructure, in terms of both capacity and efficiency. The UAE’s Road and Transport Authority have recently announced 35 major projects to be completed by 2020, which include the extension of Dubai’s Metro system and the upgrade of roads and junctions surrounding the Expo site.

In light of this the 2015 Gulf Traffic Exhibition and Conference will provide a platform to focus on the Middle East’s upcoming road, rail, parking and public transport projects, whilst bringing together leaders in these industries from across the globe. The exhibition will feature a host of international suppliers showcasing new trends and technologies, offering industry insight and innovative solutions.

“Gulf Traffic 2015 is going from strength to strength, with new initiatives being launched to continue making it the largest traffic and transport event in the region. New sectors for the upcoming edition will include; road construction, bridge construction and tunnelling, ensuring we offer our visitors access to sectors that are showing the most significant amount of government investment across the region.” explains Richard Pavitt, exhibition director.  

For the first ever, Gulf Traffic is running a hosted buyer programme, set to connect key buyers from across the Middle East with participating exhibitors, both regionally and internationally.

An inaugural feature this year is the dealer/distributor lounge, where visitors can conduct meetings in a quiet setting away from the busy show floor.

The show is witnessing growth in its number of free to attend conferences, which has increased from three to five. Running over the three days, industry leaders from across the globe will be discussing game changing projects, plans and future technologies in transport and traffic. Conference topics for this year include; Road Traffic Sustainability and Safety, ITS and Smart Cities, Smart Parking and Planning, Bridges, Tunnels and Structure Projects and Road, Highways, Design and Construction, and ways to keep the roads safe, some of the biggest visible trends at the moment in the GCC.

Gulf Traffic will be working in association with the International Parking Institute for the awards this year, celebrating excellence in the parking industry with parking specific categories which will be announced shortly.
