GreenRoad selected for 2,100 UK buses and coaches

GreenRoad, a specialist in driver safety and fuel efficiency, says it has signed more than ten bus and coach customers following its presence at Eurobus 2010 five months ago with insurance partner Belmont International. As a result, GreenRoad will be used in an additional 2,100 UK buses and coaches with the total number now using the system standing at over 19,000.

RSS4495 GreenRoad, a specialist in driver safety and fuel efficiency, says it has signed more than ten bus and coach customers following its presence at Eurobus 2010 five months ago with insurance partner 5652 Belmont International. As a result, GreenRoad will be used in an additional 2,100 UK buses and coaches with the total number now using the system standing at over 19,000.

According to the company, the new companies selected its  GreenRoad 360 service to increase their mileage per gallon and passenger comfort while reducing crashes, insurance premiums and wear and tear. The company says that a typical GreenRoad customer sees up to a 10 per cent reduction in fuel-consumption and emissions as well as a 50 per cent reduction in accident frequency and resulting costs.

    The number of car accidents involving a driver pulling out of a side road accounted for an estimated 198,000 crashes nationwide last year, according to latest research by Accident Exchange. The accident management company analysed data from 39,000 cases of accidents it handled in 2014 and found that 9% were the result of a motorist emerging from a side road without paying enough attention.     Fifty local councils in England saw more than a ten per cent increase in killed and seriously injured (KSI) crash rates between 2010 and 2011, according to an Institute for Advanced Motorists (IAM) analysis of the new road accident figures. The biggest increases in KSI numbers were in St Helens – 62 per cent, Portsmouth – 57 per cent, Stoke on Trent – 57 per cent, and Coventry – 51 per cent. A further 76 councils saw increases in the KSI rate above the national average of two per cent.
