Google has been awarded a US patent for a “landing strip” which will be used to transition a mixed-mode vehicle from human to autonomous control.     German company 3D-Kennzeichen is claiming a world first for its 3D car number plate made of special plastics. The 3D characters are applied by newly-developed stick-and-stamp technology to provide durable and tamper-proof mounting.
