Each car is equipped with Getaround Connect, a proprietary technology that allows renters to locate and unlock the car using the company’s app, removing the need to meet the owner in-person for a manual key exchange. Getaround’s safety features include insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
Atlanta is the latest US city to join Getaround’s car-sharing service. MaaS Alliance has joined The Global New Mobility Coalition (GNMC), a community of more than 100 institutions which aim to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 95%.
The GNMC also seeks to improve transport efficiency by 70% and reduce mobility costs by 40%.

Ride-hailing companies could be taxed for starting their journeys in San Francisco following a bill signed by California governor Jerry Brown.
The bill - AB 1184 - calls for a 3.25% tax on net rider fares for single-party trips, or those provided by an autonomous vehicle, as well as a 3.25% tax on shared rides.
Additionally, the city or county would be able to set a lower tax rate for net rider fares for those provided by a lower emission vehicle.
