Each car is equipped with Getaround Connect, a proprietary technology that allows renters to locate and unlock the car using the company’s app, removing the need to meet the owner in-person for a manual key exchange. Getaround’s safety features include insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
Atlanta is the latest US city to join Getaround’s car-sharing service. Getaround is not the only company making inroads in Atlanta. Hikvision is presenting a check-point camera that aims to brings artificial intelligence (AI) to critical infrastructure support at Intertraffic. The platform uses automatic number plate recognition, classification and automotive dead reckoning to detect and track criminals and identify unlicensed or uninsured drivers.
The product consists of a metal box installed under urban equipment, such as streetlamps, pillars, and signposts. In the event of an impact from a vehicle, the equipment will release very easily so damage to the bodywork will be minimised, as will injuries and human losses.
