Each car is equipped with Getaround Connect, a proprietary technology that allows renters to locate and unlock the car using the company’s app, removing the need to meet the owner in-person for a manual key exchange. Getaround’s safety features include insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance.
Atlanta is the latest US city to join Getaround’s car-sharing service. Getaround is not the only company making inroads in Atlanta. Scoot Networks will gradually deploy 500 electric scooters in Santiago, Chile, to offer citizens a more sustainable mobility option. Lime’s scooters and warehouses in France will be powered by local, solar and small hydro projects in a bid to advance clean micro mobility in Europe, the firm says.
The move stems from a three-year agreement with Planète Oui, an electricity provider which supplies 100% local and renewable energy.
