GE and EV World collaborate on electric vehicle technology

General Electric (GE) has announced a partnership with Singapore-based electric vehicle research centre EV World to collaborate on technology development and strategic initiatives to support the roll out of electric vehicles (EV) in Malaysia and Singapore. General Electric (940 GE) has announced a partnership with Singapore-based electric vehicle research centre 6714 EV World to collaborate on technology development and strategic initiatives to support the roll out of electric vehicles (EV) in Malaysia and Singapore.

The companies said the collaboration would lead to a research and development centre of excellence for EV technology.

“It will also allow both parties to work hand-in-hand to bring to market commercial applications for EVs to Malaysia and Singapore,” they said in a joint statement.

6715 GE Asean country director of growth initiatives, Azli Mohamed, said he was confident that their consistent efforts in EV deployment would contribute towards the Government's aim to turn Malaysia into a green technology hub.

“The collaboration is aligned with the goal of the Asean Economic Community to integrate industries across the region to promote regional sourcing and enhance private sector involvement,” he added.

    South Africa launches electric vehicle pilot programme
    South Africa’s Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) has launched a zero emission electric vehicle pilot programme, which would see it trial a fleet of electric vehicles. Speaking at the launch, water and environmental affairs minister Edna Molewa said the multi-stakeholder partnership project would pilot, test and demonstrate the viability of electric vehicles under South African conditions. The pilot programme would also serve to determine end-user, infrastructure and running costs associated with loc
