Tony Carpenter, Gardasoft’s Sales Manager, throws some light on things
6965 Gardasoft Vision has launched the VTR4 traffic monitoring strobe, an illuminator which provides IR and white light for ITS applications at up to three times the intensity of conventional LED light sources. The VTR4 builds on the success of the industry-leading VTR2 and utilises the highest-power LED technology available, says the company’s Business Development Manager Paul Downey.

“The VTR4 delivers up to 3.0kW pulses to the LED array and so opens up a range of new applications with increased illumination distances. It features fully integrated internal timing, intensity control, trigger input and long-distance communications including Ethernet and RS-232, suiting it to applications such as ANPR, red light violation enforcement, open-road tolling and weigh in motion applications.”

The VTR4 comes in an IP66-rated enclosure and can be operated in a free-running mode from a programmable internal trigger. A trigger input can be used to synchronise the lighting pulse with the exposure of a camera. Full intensity and pulse width control are available through the trigger input and remote communications port. There is an internal interlock to prevent the lighting being triggered too fast.
