374 Ertico has elected Cees De Wijs, CEO of Swarco as its new chairman at the recent General Assembly held in Brussels. Twenty supervisory board members were also elected, representing public authorities, research, service providers, suppliers, traffic and transport, users and vehicle manufacturers.

Ertico’s 53 partners met to discuss the achievements of the previous year and the next strategic steps, which include the five Ertico programmes, started in 2015 and covering the different areas of intelligent transport systems such as connected and automated driving, eCall, eMobility, urban mobility and freight and logistics.

This is part of the new strategy Ertico has put in place to focus on specific thematic areas identifying the long-term objectives and filling the current gaps for deployment through the different Ertico partnership activities. Today, each programme leader presented the first draft of the programmes; in the months to come the programmes will be completed and new Ertico partnership activities will be planned accordingly.

Outgoing chairman of the supervisory board, Jean Mesqui, said: “The Ertico partnership went from strength to strength through the growth in the number of Partners to the increasing range of activities on offer.  Partners continued to work together in their quest to further the deployment of ITS, providing innovative solutions to address real needs that exist in our society today, many of which could be seen at the European and World Congresses in 2014 and will be further demonstrated in Bordeaux next October.”

The importance of strengthening the partnership through new strategic objectives was reiterated by newly elected chairman Cees De Wijs, who said: “Ertico has gone a long way establishing its Partnership as a reference point in the ITS world. I am extremely grateful to all the Partners gathered here today for the trust they have shown in electing me; I look forward to working together and to setting forth our ambitions to the ITS community”.
