EC Road Safety Awards 2025 finalists announced

Lanternn by Valerann is among the solutions up for a major European prize

The finalists in the European Commission's Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2025 have been announced.

The projects, in five categories, range from technology preventing accidents in real time, to inclusive education programmes aimed at youngsters and drivers with disabilities.

Valerann's work with Transport Infrastructure Ireland is recognised in the Technology category. Data analytics platform Lanternn by Valerann is used on the M1 and M6 motorways for incident detection and alert prioritisation.

Other finalists in the category include Easyrain's aquaplaning preventing solution.

In the category Driving under the influence and distraction, TeamAlert's Drive drug-free campaign is in the running for a prize, while Volvo Car Espana's Road safety for school children campaign is among those recognised in the Education category.
 
Métropole de Lyon's Safer surroundings for secondary schools initiative is among the finalists in the Urban category.

Winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on 16 October in Brussels.
