Not the fancy buttons that make the windows go down.” As he points out, even wireless technologies require cabling. “You still need us,” he says.
The company began in the early 1970s “with big, empty holes in the ground” and began developing microtechnology in the late 1980s “to make more use of that same conduit”.
“We’ve been growing with the industry since 1972,” he concludes. “What continues to happen is that our microtechnology products continue to evolve because there is more and more need for fibre.”
London’s mayor Sadiq Khan has been urged to replace the city’s existing road charge schemes with a single system that charges drivers per mile.
Called City Move, the scheme would apply in areas of high demand and poor air quality. Rates would vary by vehicle emissions, local levels of congestion and pollution and availability of public transport alternatives – but would be set before the journey begins.
