Samuel Kapsch: 'Young, innovative leader'

Samuel Kapsch has been appointed to the executive board of Kapsch TrafficCom as chief operating officer, based at the firm's HQ in Austria.

Since 2022, he has been responsible for 500 staff in the Latin America region as executive vice president; he is replaced in that role by Ramiro Virreira, who has been vice president for the Southern Region of Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile) for the last four years.

Samuel Kapsch led the expansion of the business to more countries in the region, and says: “We are confident that Ramiro Virreira will continue to consolidate our commitment to innovation and operational excellence."

As a representative of the fifth generation of the Kapsch family, Samuel Kapsch will be responsible for supply chain management, production, the Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions, and operational implementation of strategy as well as marketing and communications.

Sonja Hammerschmid, chairwoman of the supervisory board at Kapsch TrafficCom, says he is "a young, innovative leader with in-depth knowledge of our international markets".

She adds: "His experience in digital transformation will help the company to recognise and master challenges at an early stage."

Kapsch studied business administration in Madrid and California before working in management consultancy in Argentina and Spain.

In a statement, fellow board members CEO Georg Kapsch and chief technology officer Alfredo Escriba said he will bring "valuable expertise, intercultural understanding and implementation strength".

They added: "His experience and strategic vision will play a decisive role in shaping the further development of the company. We look forward to working with him and to taking the next growth steps for our company together.”
