26 Case Systems Inc, which develops and maintains wireless technologies for the transportation and parking industries, is highlighting its roadside call box technology and parking systems at this years 560 ITS America.
The company is featuring its solar-powered roadside call box which is built to last, enduring the elements for over 20 years, and paving the way for green ITS technologies worldwide. Case Systems says that transportation agencies, public works departments and 511 programs use its call box systems enhanced with Bluetooth technology to offer additional information services to the driving public.
Using the same design concept and low-cost, reliable technology, 7237 Case Parking delivers real-time occupancy for managing parking facilities utilising a web-based dashboard with the ability to provide parkers with parking space availability via smartphones, message signs and web applications. The company’s turnkey parking solution, which counts cars in and out of parking lots with more than 99% accuracy, uses a new data management, or “Counts in the Cloud” approach, to automate real-time parking information or special event planning. Case Systems says that ROI studies show that its parking solution will drive positive cash flow in the first month of operation.
On Tuesday ITS America honored the winners of its annual student essay competition sponsored by Southwest Research Institute. The winning essay authored by James Wong from the Georgia Institute of Technology investigates the integration challenges presented by real-time traveler information. Multi-modal transportation has always been a passion of Wong who hopes to one day head a public agency.
Four leaders in the transportation technology industry were inducted in the ITS America Hall of Fame during an awards ceremony at the 22nd meeting and exposition. Former House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman James Oberstar and Gerald Conover, who previously advocated for ITS at Ford, were on hand to receive the honors.
The Borum stand at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2014 promises to be a busy place. The company says Borum partners from all over the world will be there to provide professional advice on line marking equipment. And the company will be unveiling some innovations for mounting on all of its machines, including a bead alarm (a sensor mounted on the bead gun to detect a stop of bead flow and provide an alarm) and an air dryer for a bead tank which Borum says is especially useful in areas with a high level of humidity.
Electricity is in the air – and in Toshiba’s new super charge ion battery (SCiB), on display at ITS World Congress.
SCiB batteries can be charged in five to 10 minutes, compared with the traditional overnight charging required for applications such as electric buses. SCiB charges even faster than current fast charge batteries, which take 30 minutes.
The ultra-fast charging is possible because SCiB can tolerate a high current of 400 amps, almost three times higher than today’s normal fast charging batt
