The company will feature its solar-powered roadside call box which is built to last, enduring the elements for over 20 years and paving the way for green ITS technologies worldwide. Case Systems says that transportation agencies, public works departments, and 511 programs use its call box systems enhanced with Bluetooth technology to offer additional information services to the driving public.
Using the same design concept and low-cost, reliable technology, 7237 Case Parking delivers real-time occupancy for managing parking facilities utilizing a web-based dashboard with the ability to provide parkers with parking space availability via smartphones, message signs, and web applications. The company’s turnkey parking solution, which counts cars in and out of parking lots with more than 99% accuracy, uses a new data management, or “Counts in the Cloud” approach, to automate real-time parking information or special event planning. Case Systems says that ROI studies show that its parking solution will drive positive cash flow in the first month of operation.
Deutsche Telekom is within months of moving into full-scale operation of its new-generation contactless payment kiosks as it tests the technology with initial users. Pilot schemes are already underway for two versions of its MyWallet Kiosk system, Compact and Flexible. Compact processes any card, including those with PIN entry, while Flexible is optimised for payment schemes with contactless or EMV chip and no PIN entry.
Turkish company Vendeka is looking to expand its operations internationally after completing what it describes as the first passive RFID-based tolling project in Europe. The company installed the system on the Bosphorus Bridge, which links Europe and Asia. Previously, tolling was achieved by a card-based system, but traffic jams were caused by drivers stopping to place their cards in the readers. This has been replaced by Vendeka’s passive RFID system. Bands supported are 400 MHz to 6 GHz, so offering multiple combinations including LTE 700 MHz, UHF, GSM/GPRS, Wi-Fi - Diversity or Single, 3G UMTS, 4G, WIMAX, Public Safety 4.9 GHz, PTC 220 MHz – configured with or without GPS for Positioning. Mobile Mark says these antennas are ideal for mounting to any vehicle, train, cargo container or trailer.
Italy’s largest industrial company, oil and gas giant ENI, has asked all its third-party transport operators to use the new EGNOS system, which allows more accurate tracking of dangerous goods in transit. Satellite-based EGNOS improves the accuracy of existing GPS tracking systems, giving a vehicle’s position to an accuracy of one metre, compared to around four metres by GPS alone, said Telespazio’s Antonello Di Fazio at the World Congress yesterday. EGNOS can be installed via an overnight software upload.
