Two new joint venture companies were introduced to the industry at Intertraffic yesterday.

They were created by 7692 P&D Specialist Services and 5873 Bartco Traffic Equipment in an initiative aimed at tackling new international markets.

The first joint venture company is Bartco UK which will be Europe’s first manufacturer of portable, solar-powered, five-colour matrix variable message signs, according to the firm.

It will be co-located in the UK with 6918 Mobile Visual Information Systems (MVIS), a member of the P&D Specialist Services group. It will tackle the UK, European and northern hemisphere markets.

The second joint venture firm is MVIS Australia, which will be based in Australia together with Bartco. It will market MVIS’s range of portable ITS products, including CCTV, radar and lighting, to Australia and the southern hemisphere.

“Together, the two new companies will extend the international reach of P&D Specialist Services and Bartco Traffic Equipment, bringing the benefits of their ITS solutions to new markets,” said Pat Musgrave, managing director of P&D Specialist Services and chairman of MVIS Australia.

Troy Wollard, managing director of Bartco Traffic Equipment and chairman of Bartco UK, added: “Bartco will now be able to respond with greater agility to customer demand in the UK, Europe and northern hemisphere, cost-effectively creating and delivering VMS with speed, while MVIS’s technologically-advanced, tailor-made ITS solutions will be within easy reach of Australia and the southern hemisphere."
