Austrian Ministry of Transport to bring Gerd Leonhard to TRA 2018

The Austrian Ministry of Transport will bring author and futurist Gerd Leonhard to the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2018 in Vienna where he will speak about the importance of new technologies and the role of humans in the digital world of mobility. This year’s overall theme is on digitalisation in mobility and will focus on the compatibility between technology and user-friendly mobility.

The Austrian Ministry of Transport will bring author and futurist Gerd Leonhard to the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2018 in Vienna where he will speak about the importance of new technologies and the role of humans in the digital world of mobility. This year’s overall theme is on digitalisation in mobility and will focus on the compatibility between technology and user-friendly mobility.


In addition, a TRA – High Level Industrial Roundtable will aim to present the latest results of European research and technology development to find answers to future challenges and determine how Europe can be in a strong position on the global stage.

Norbert Hofer, minister for innovation and transport, said: Thanks to the TRA 2018, which is being jointly organised with the 1690 European Commission, Austria will be the European centre of future mobility for a whole week and increase the international visibility of the technological expertise of our domestic industry and research".

Leonhard, said: "In order to meet the future transportation needs of urban centres, we need to organise the transport of people and goods more smartly, efficiently and sustainably. Networking, robotisation and artificial intelligence can all contribute significantly."
