During the 6456 ITS World Congress in Tokyo,  7350 ITS Finland, the Finnish Ministry of Transport, 374 Ertico - ITS Europe, HERE and others joined forces to launch a best "ITS in your pocket" app contest for the ITS European Congress in Helsinki 16 to 19 June 2014.

The App Contest 2014 is open to European companies, teams and individual developers and over the next few months, workshops and webinars will be organised in various European cities to support participants in their proposals.   There are three categories ‘Multimodality’, ‘Sustainability’ and ‘Innovation’ and participants have until April next year to submit their proposals.

The winners will be awarded during the Congress. Two other awards will also be presented: the HERE award for the best ITS enabled application on Lumia Smartphone and the AppCampus award for the best application to help mobility in the city of Helsinki.

Ertico has also issued a Call for Papers for the 10th ITS European Congress in Helsinki. In addition to the normal technical and scientific papers, for the first time there is a call for ‘commercial papers’ presenting products or ideas close to the market use. This new category includes pre-market proposals which are linked to the development of a specific product or service and therefore has a high commercial value.

Didier Gorteman, Ertico’s director of congresses, said the new papers will be presented in a ‘commercial theatre’ giving individuals the chance to present their proposals to an audience of experts and leading companies in the ITS sector.
