Incredibly, the Volar-e car displayed on the 7863 Applus Idiada stand will accelerate from 0-100km/h in under three seconds – not bad for an electric car. The Idiada engineering and technology division of the certification body Applus put all of the various technologies of this car together and fully tested it within nine months. The organisation is here in Bordeaux promoting its proving ground for testing ITS communication systems.
At the Detroit Auto Show 2011, Volvo Cars is spotlighting the important issue of electric car safety in an unusual, but distinctive way. On the company's stand there is a Volvo C30 Electric that has undergone a frontal collision test at 40 mph (64 km/h).
Orange is showing off a Citroen C-Zero electric car that has completed the first round-the-world trip by a battery-powered car. The car took eight months, travelled 25,000km through 17 countries and consumed just €250 ($325) of electricity.
Orange said the object was to show that a standard electric vehicle could cope with such a trip. Orange outfitted it with its M2M fleet management system, which enabled the company to track the vehicle and monitor its condition at all times.

President of motorsport’s governing body, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Jean Todt and Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings revealed the much-anticipated new Spark-Renault SRT01E fully-electric Formula E single-seat racing car during the opening day of the 65th International Frankfurt Motor Show.
The SRT01E has been designed and built by Spark Racing Technology, together with a consortium of the leading manufacturers in motorsport, and will compete in the inaugural FIA Formula
