2013 Polis Conference – call for speakers

The call for speakers for the 2013 Polis Conference, to be held in Brussels on 4 and 5 December, covers a wide range of topics open under the core Polis themes of environment and health, traffic efficiency and mobility, road safety and the social and economic challenges.     The 2010 Urban Mobility Report, published by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University, concludes that after two years of slight declines in overall traffic congestion - attributable to the economic downturn and high fuel prices - leading indicators suggest that as the economy rebounds, traffic problems are doing the same.   • Westminster strengthens commitment to car sharing

    UK residents in Westminster, London, will be able to use Zipcar Flex’s car sharing service for one-way journeys at 29p per minute from early July. The borough’s council has entered into the agreement to provide users with an alternative to car ownership.

    Zipcar Flex is available through the company’s app and is capped at £12 per minute. In addition, the company will make 185 cars and vans available for its Round Trip package which it says is suitable for longer weekend or shopping trips.
