2013 Polis Conference – call for speakers

The call for speakers for the 2013 Polis Conference, to be held in Brussels on 4 and 5 December, covers a wide range of topics open under the core Polis themes of environment and health, traffic efficiency and mobility, road safety and the social and economic challenges. All abstracts should highlight the innovative dimension as well as the results achieved and lessons learned. Abstracts should be submitted online at www.polisnetwork.eu/2013conference by 7 June 2013.     A new ITF mobility study in Helsinki confirms that a combination of 6-seater shared taxis and taxi buses can carry out all of today’s car journeys in the city area with just 4% of the current number of privately owned vehicles. These shared mobility platforms also mean fewer changes, less waiting and shorter travel times compared to traditional public transport. In addition, the results confirm improved access to jobs and public services, most notably for citizens in areas with few such offers.

  • Vietnam gov urges ministries to improve traffic safety

    Vietnam’s deputy prime minister Truong Hoa Binh is calling on government ministries to better enforce traffic safety following deaths caused by drink- and drug-driving.
