Within the last few weeks, 73 Iteris announced that it has delivered a milestone 100,000th Vantage vehicle detection camera to the traffic management industry so it’s not surprising that the Vantage will be centre stage at the company’s booth at the ITS America Annual Meeting & Exposition.

Vantage cameras and processors are used in combination with sophisticated video image processing algorithms as complete vehicle detection systems that the company says offer unmatched functionality throughout a broad range of traffic management applications – the reason why they have been deployed by hundreds of agencies in North America, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

The Vantage sensor system can provide traffic engineers accurate vehicle detection information. Iteris says the versatility of the product enables users to apply a wide range of detection applications to optimise traffic flow throughout a transportation network.

“What we will be focusing on at the ITS America Annual Meeting is showing how Iteris applies video detection to a broad range of traffic management applications, including both adaptive traffic control and highway management systems,” says Greg McKhann, Senior Vice President, Sensors Sales & Marketing at Iteris. “Advanced image processing technology is harnessed to detect vehicle presence, count, speed, occupancy and other traffic data used in traffic management systems. This gives traffic managers a powerful toolkit for mitigating roadway congestion by modifying traffic signal timing or detecting incidents quickly,” he says, adding that the company’s video sensors offer low life cycle costs, inherent abilities for data verification, flexibility for re-configuration without re-construction and a rich upward growth path.
