Website traffic breaks records during Hurricane Harvey

During Hurricane Harvey the number of users accessing Houston TransStar’s website, www.houstontranstar.org, for updates on travel conditions peaked at more than three million unique visitors, more than a million individuals accessing the site on 27 August alone.

During Hurricane Harvey the number of users accessing Houston TransStar’s %$Linker: 2 External <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><dictionary /> 0 0 0 link-external website false http://http//www.houstontranstar.org/ false false%> for updates on travel conditions peaked at more than three million unique visitors, more than a million individuals accessing the site on 27 August alone.


Over the 11-day period the number of hits on the site reached 30, 684,727 as the hurricane left more than 1.25m (50 inches) of rain, leaving the region largely underwater.

Mike Vickich, 8520 Texas A&amp;M Transportation Institute senior analyst who assists the managing of TransStar said website is critical to regional flooding events like Hurricane Harvey and that the system has been designed to support such events.
