Various micromobility options already exist in Lisbon, but WBCSD’s new agreement emphasises sustainability

WBCSD says signatories of the Corporate Mobility Pact such as Siemens and Vodafone will commit to more than 200 actions such as promoting electric vehicles in private and operative fleets and offering employees a bike-share solution.

This initiative follows a challenge set by the mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina, who warned: “Decarbonisation presents itself as the greatest challenge of our generation. We need to reduce our emissions and make all types of transport more sustainable”.

Miguel Gaspar, councillor for mobility at Lisbon City Council, says: "The city will provide the necessary conditions to ensure that commitments are measured and that dialogue continues."

Lisbon is to showcase its green credentials as the city is hosting the ITS European Congress 2020 from 17-21 May.
