BYD says the buses are estimated to cancel out 21,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide and 526kg of particulate matter.

Lara Zhang, country manager of BYD Colombia, says: “These electric buses produce zero emissions and are environmentally friendly, bringing better air quality and improved living conditions to local people.”

BYD will manufacture the buses to operate initially in the towns of Usme and Fontibón from September 2020.

Last month, BYD started operating 285 e-buses in an electric bus corridor in the Chilean capital Santiago.
