French authorities have started sending fines to Belgian citizens for road traffic violations observed in France using roadside speed cameras. Foreigners account for more than 20 per cent of road traffic violations in France but up until recently there was no mechanism for taking action against them once they had returned to their home country. In June 2012, Belgium opened its car registration database to the French, Spanish and German authorities so that violators can be traced and fined.
A group of Dutch and British scientists at the UK’s University of Birmingham has discovered the secret algorithm used to identify the identity of each unique ignition key used to start luxury and exotic cars such as Porsches, Lamborghinis, Audis and Bentleys, all part of the German Volkswagen Group. The scientists, Baris Ege, Roel Verdult and Flavio Garcia had hoped to publish the paper at the USENIX Security Conference in Washington next month but Volkswagen sued to prevent them from disclosing key details
Canadian bike-sharing company PBSC Urban Solutions will deploy over 7,000 bikes across Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile. Both roll-outs are set to be completed by early 2019.
The deployment consists of 4,000 Iconic models to Buenos Aires, along with 400 docking stations which use energy from solar panels for data transmission to lock and unlock bikes. In addition, 3,850 Fit bikes and 350 solar-powered stations will launch in Santiago.
